💧 Newark firm turns data center heat into water
Source: Newark Post
On June 29, Newark-based AirJoule unveiled a new system designed to extract drinkable water from the air using waste heat. The company demonstrated its first AirJoule Prime unit in the parking lot of its Delaware Industrial Park facility on Shea Way.
The technology was designed for large industrial sites like data centers, which typically consume massive amounts of local water resources. Built inside a shipping container, each unit utilized a solid sorbent technology to generate up to 528 gallons of clean water per day.
The company prepared the demonstration unit for shipment to Europe to join a technology showcase for data centers. AirJoule also began developing partnerships to integrate the system into commercial HVAC units.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
🏘️ Fair Hill housing project sparks traffic worries
Source: Newark Post
A 533 home development just over the Maryland state line in Fair Hill is generating traffic concerns in Newark today. The Aston Pointe project faces pushback from neighbors who recently launched a petition to pause construction.
Triple Crown Corporation is currently building the first phase of the neighborhood, which Cecil County approved in 2008. The developer recently filed plans to add another 246 houses to the site. Newark officials worry the influx of new residents will strain local roads, particularly the narrow intersection at Jackson Hall School Road and Wedgewood Road.
Cecil County officials host a community meeting on July 8 in Elkton to address resident questions and discuss an upcoming traffic study.
🏛 Delaware's 153rd General Assembly gavels out
Source: Spotlight Delaware
Delaware lawmakers wrapped up the 153rd General Assembly after an all-night session that stretched into sunrise. The legislature passed a $1.26 billion Bond Bill, new data center and wetlands regulations, omnibus spending measures, and a first-leg constitutional amendment on marriage equality.
The House also voted to override Gov. Matt Meyer's veto of Senate Bill 75, which limits county zoning restrictions on licensed marijuana shops. A child sexual abuse statute of limitations bill died at the last minute after House Minority Leader Tim Dukes struck it rather than accept a Senate amendment he said weakened protections for survivors.
Lawmakers now enter a six-month recess, with many heading into competitive fall campaigns.
🏛️ Marriage equality amendment clears Delaware House
Source: WDEL
Less than a week after falling short on votes, Delaware lawmakers passed a constitutional amendment protecting marriage equality on Tuesday. The measure cleared the chamber when three representatives changed their positions to support the bill.
State Representatives Josue Ortega and Madinah Wilson-Anton reversed their previous stances to join the rest of the Democratic caucus in voting yes. Representative Michael Smith also flipped his vote, providing the single Republican endorsement needed to reach the required two-thirds majority. Other Republicans who previously abstained switched their votes to no.
The amendment now heads to Governor Meyer. To become official, the measure must also pass the next General Assembly.
