☀️ Rise and shine, 302. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful weekend with clear skies, comfortable temps, and no rain in sight. So naturally there’s a Code Orange air quality alert thanks to smoke drifting in from Canada.
It’s worth keeping an eye on the reports if you’ve got outdoor plans. Otherwise? A pretty ideal few days to be out and about.

CROWN HOMES REAL ESTATE
Kristen Rosaio Presents: A Model Home with Lasting Appeal
Tucked in one of North Wilmington’s most coveted neighborhoods, 13 Bromley Court offers timeless style and thoughtful updates in a quiet cul-de-sac. Originally built as the community’s model home, it’s been lovingly maintained by the same owners for over 30 years.
With over 3,000 square feet, the home features hardwood floors, sunlit formal spaces, and a spacious family room with a wood-burning fireplace and French doors to the patio. The remodeled kitchen (2021) blends clean, modern design with quartz countertops, soft-close cabinetry, and a large center island. A dedicated office with built-ins, updated powder room, and first-floor laundry add everyday ease.
Upstairs, the private primary suite includes a spacious bedroom, large dressing room, and spa-style bath with a custom shower. Outside, a serene backyard with mature landscaping, sunny deck, and patio invites quiet mornings or weekend entertaining.
Bonus: a flexible basement, two-car garage, newer roof (2018), and updated systems.
NEWS YOU CAN USE
🌫️ Air quality alert in effect for Delaware
If your morning walk felt a little extra hazy, there’s a reason. Delaware is under an air quality alert this week due to wildfire smoke drifting in from Canada. The haze could stick around through the weekend, especially with calm winds keeping it trapped over the Northeast.
Older adults, kids, and anyone with asthma or heart conditions should take it easy outdoors. This is a good week for indoor errands and iced coffee under a vent.
🌿 Delaware’s recreational weed rollout is off to a high-flying start
Delaware’s first weekend of legal adult-use cannabis sales? A blazing success. The state raked in over $903K from August 1–3, with New Castle County dispensaries leading the pack. The state’s official report says nearly $94K in tax revenue came from recreational purchases alone.
Flower was the fan favorite (no surprise), but edibles and vapes weren’t far behind. Regulators say everything ran smoothly, and more licenses and equity grants are already on the way.
🏥 ChristianaCare expands with 15 new spots around Delaware
Need a checkup? ChristianaCare just got a lot more convenient. The health system is opening 15 new practice locations, many in converted MedExpress buildings, across Wilmington, Newark, Bear, and beyond.
These new sites will offer everything from primary care to specialty visits and even virtual appointments. It’s part of a big push to meet demand and shorten wait times, especially in northern Delaware.
More care, closer to home? We’ll take it.
💡 Newark’s new way to report power outages
Tired of wondering when the lights will come back on? Well Newark is rolling out a new outage management system next week, making it easier to report outages and get updates in real time.
The platform includes a live outage map, automated text alerts, and a smarter call system to ease the burden on dispatchers. If your number’s on file, you’ll get texts automatically — or you can text “opt” to 302-366-7000 to sign up.
For anyone who's ever sat in the dark hitting refresh, this should be a welcome glow-up.
IN BUSINESS
Tucked next to Drip Cafe on North College Avenue, The Cut Bakes is a one-day-a-week bakery that’s quickly grown a loyal following. Run by husband-and-wife duo Maureen and Matthew Anderson, the cozy spot serves fresh-made pastries, sandwiches, and rotating lunch specials every Saturday.
The vibe is warm and personal — like you’re stopping by a neighbor’s kitchen. It’s all made from scratch, with plenty of gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free treats. This September, they’re expanding to Wednesdays through Fridays.
We first spotted their story in the Newark Post and knew we had to pass it along. If you’ve been craving a local place with heart and serious flavor, this is it.
DOG OF THE WEEK

Say hello to Cinnamon🐾
Meet Cinnamon — a velvety-soft, tan-and-white sweetheart who’s equal parts shy girl and total lovebug. At 3 years old, she’s already mastered the art of quiet companionship. Want a dog who’ll curl up beside you while you work or nestle into your side for movie night? That’s Cinnamon’s dream day.
She’s dog-friendly, too — especially with pups who match her mellow vibe. And don’t be fooled by her bashful first impression. Once she trusts you, her loyalty is as warm and comforting as, well, a cinnamon roll straight from the oven.
Stop by the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Copeland Center in New Castle (290 Churchmans Road) to meet her today. She’s spayed, microchipped, and ready to go home — maybe with you?
Cinnamon is part of the “Sponsored by Simba” program — adoption fees are waived for military veterans adopting pets over a year old.
