Wilmington just leveled up its library game
We’ve got $14 million on the move, a futuristic library wing, a pint-sized pup named Dinky, and more festivals than your calendar can probably handle. If you like your local news with a side of personality, you’re in the right place.
THE DIGEST
👵 Delaware’s golden years are booming
Delaware just ranked 9th in the U.S. for fastest-growing population of folks aged 85+. Between 2003 and 2023, that age group grew by a whopping 65.6% here — way above the national average. The Opera study also found a major gap in care: there’s only one nursing facility for every 443 Delawareans over 85.
Translation? Lots more birthdays and not nearly enough beds. Time to start planning.
Truth Social’s parent company just packed its corporate bags and left Delaware for Florida. They say it’s because they’ve got no offices or employees here, and they’d rather be legally based in their “home state.” The official move was filed this week.
No politics here—just another company jumping states, and Delaware losing one of its famous LLCs. Not exactly earth-shattering, but still a sign of shifting tides in the corporate world.
📚 Wilmington’s new library is a whole vibe
The Wilmington Public Library just unveiled its futuristic new wing: the Think Do Hub. It’s two stories of pure inspiration—think maker spaces, digital media labs, and plenty of cozy corners for reading or brainstorming your next big idea.
This isn’t just a place for books. It’s a space to build, create, and collaborate. Wilmington, you’ve got yourself a library that’s ready for 2030.

LOCAL BUSINESS
💸 A $14M race for small biz
New Castle County’s turning on the money faucet. County Executive Matt Meyer just launched the "Race to $14M" — a speedy push to get federal funding into the hands of Delaware's small businesses. The goal? Help local lenders distribute loans and grants to women- and minority-owned businesses, especially those in underserved communities.
Banks like Stepping Stones and True Access Capital are ready to roll — but there’s a catch: the county has to show it can distribute the money fast to unlock the full amount.
If you’re a small biz owner, this could be your moment.
